Asparagine is a non-essential amino acid (a piece of a protein molecule) which means that we don’t have to derive it from our food, our bodies produce enough normally. We now know that it is the chemical breakdown of Asparagine in our body that causes our urine to smell odd after eating asparagus. It is one of the 20 most common amino acids and our bodies need very minute doses of Aparagine to be healthy. This “adaptogen” amino acid seems to indirectly affect our nervous system, equilibrium and over-all amino acid transformation within our bodies.
As stated above it is found in asparagus. It can also be found in larger amounts in dairy, beef, poultry and eggs. You can increase your Asparagin levels (not sure why you would want to…) by taking a full range amino acid supplement such as Carlson Labs. AMINO BLEND 750 mg. capsules. There are a small number of online amino acid retailers that stock Asparagin, isolated by itself in a capsule and it’s relatively inexpensive.

HOW MUCH WATER DO I HAVE TO DRINK?
Q. I try to drink as much pure (bottled) water through out the day as I can. Do I really need as much water every day as they say?

A. Did you know that “every” single physical function of your body requires water? Water makes up 60 % of your body weight and water is the single most abundant element in our bodies. Water not only flushes out toxins but provides vital nutrients to every cell of your body. You can probably see where I am going with this answer. Yea…drinking WATER (not just fluid) throughout the day is vitally important for your basic and over-all health.
How much water we should drink seems to be up for debate and may depend on the individual. Most of us have heard the “8 by 8 rule”. That is 8 oz., 8 times per day. This will provide almost 2 liters of water. The Mayo Clinic is recommending that men get at least 3 and women 2.2 liters of water daily. As you might guess your bodies demand for water increases as your activity level increases.
Please be aware that 2 out of every 5 bottles of water sold world wide is nothing more than purified tap water. You may have heard that there is a huge debate going on right now about the water origin (source) and wording on the bottle. Dasani Water (owned by Coca Cola) is the latest perpetrator.
Yes, drink as much “clean” water as possible through out your day. If the plastic bottle (toxin leaching) is an issue, switch to a metal bottle. Soft drinks don’t count, coffee and tea (within reason) does count.

FOOD COMBINING...GOOD FOR QUALITY OF LIFE?
Q. So, what is the latest on food combining? Do people still do it and is it beneficial?

A. Food combining as a way of improving health and even loosing weight seemed to peak the late 1980's. Most folks find "hard core" food combining too exclusionary and rigid to be practical for everyday life.
In theory, lumping (combining) your food into separately digested groups makes sense. Our bodies do digest different food groups in different stomach (or bowel) areas at different times of the day.
Practically speaking, its just too hard of a dietary practice to maintain for the long term. Most folks to whom I talked could maintain the diet for a week or two, then human nature takes over. I personally feel that God never meant for basic human nutrition to be such a burdensome process. To have to think and worry about what you can and cannot eat when combined with each other is eroding the quality of life.

SALAD IN A BOTTLE
Found this posted by AMV group member Marianne B. Utterly brilliant, people!!!! Not only does SALAD IN A JAR save space in your fridge, it also reduces food waste and gets non-salad eaters to mow down daily.
THE ARRANGEMENT
From BOTTOM to TOP:
Dressing
Shredded carrots
Cherry tomatoes
Sunflower seeds
Hard boiled eggs
Baby spinach
DIRECTIONS
1) Arrange ingredients in a large mason jar
2) Store in fridge for up to a week
3) When ready to eat: shake jar, place on a plate, and eat!
You can make any arrangement you want… you can add red onion, cucumbers, radishes or peppers. Always remember to put the dressing at the bottom and the lettuce at the top—a MUST.

FAMILY HISTORY & HEART ATTACKS!
